Monorail Systems
A track fixed to the building carries a trolley and a powered cradle along the façade — horizontally under the roof edge, or vertically on articulated elevations.
How it travels
A monorail can run along the roof edge, turn corners and cover elevations where a roof car would not fit. Scroll to follow the trolley along the track.
Horizontal monorail
Rail brackets fixed at roof or soffit level carry the track around the perimeter. A trolley runs along the rail and suspends a powered cradle, giving the cleaning team continuous coverage of the elevation without moving heavy machines across the roof.

Vertical monorail
On articulated façades, a vertical-type monorail guides the cradle on its descent so it can follow the profile of the building. Hauteur's portfolio records the Living In project at Plot 202, New Cairo, as the first vertical monorail system in Egypt.

Portfolio note
Hauteur's portfolio describes Cairo Festival City Park A — supplied and installed for Al-Futtaim Real Estate Development — as the biggest monorail project in Egypt.

When the roof is congested, too narrow for a track and machine, or when the façade has set-backs and soffits that a jib cannot reach. A monorail needs less roof space but relies on brackets designed into the structure.
Roof plan, typical sections and elevations, building height and number of floors, façade materials and any roof equipment or set-backs. Early drawings are enough to start system selection; details are refined as the design develops.
As early as possible — ideally during design development. Rails, sockets, anchors and roof loads affect the structure, the parapet and the roof finishes, and are far simpler to integrate before construction.
Share the roof plan, elevations and building height. A Hauteur engineer will review the façade and recommend an access strategy.

A roof car travels along a guide rail around the roof and lowers a cradle from its jib to any drop on the façade.

The cradle is where the work happens. Its length, controls and suspension are chosen to suit the façade, the task and the system it hangs from.

Some surfaces cannot be reached by a standard roof car, monorail or davit. Hauteur designs and supplies access equipment for the specific geometry.
